KAJUKENBO Video Tape Series - "Original Method"
« on: March 21, 2005, 10:21:21 AM »
I am very happy to announce the release of an 8 Tape WKO Video Series on the Original Method of KAJUKENBO, professionally produced in 1991.
These 1' mastered tapes have been in a vault back east since 1991 and I have just made contact again with the individual who helped me produce and edit them.  He had left the country for the past 14 years and recently retuned.
That said......I now have the masters and am very excited to get them out to the public.  (Especially the KAJUKENBO Ohana)
These tapes are broken down into the requirements needed for rank advancement in the "Original Method" and feature several Senior Black Belts from the late Grandmaster Aleju "Al" Reyes including:
Grandmaster Joe Davis, Sigung Bill Rodriques, Professor Joe Tarango, as well as a "bonus" feature on the Black Belt tape "Introduction to Repetition "Ground Work" with Professor Allen Abad.  (The Brown Belt tape also has a "bonus" feature on "Full Contact" with Professor Joe Tarango.
SIJO EMPERADO is featured throughout the tapes talking about each belt rank and its meaning as well as commenting and appearing on each tape during the techniques.  SIJO is actually involved in demonstrating and commenting on several techniques while the instructors are teaching them.
The first two tapes are on "History and Traditions" (including Rules and Regulations) and there is a "Basics" tape.  Rank requirement tapes include:  White/Purple Belt - Purple Belt - Blue Belt - Green Belt - Brown Belt and Black Belt (1st Degree).
This series is ideal for both the Instructor and Student alike.
I broke down each tape into only the requirements needed for their next rank so it might be used as a text and reference for training in the "Original Method".  (Which if one claims KAJUKENBO "any method" should know as their foundation)
I will be having these professionally produced tapes converted to DVD (broken down into chapters for easy reference) after I can raise enough capital to do so by pre-selling VHS tapes which will be available within 6-8 weeks.

Orders can be made immediately through PAYPAL at:
gforbach@yahoo.com
www.kajukenboinfo.com/wko
Total cost:  $159.95 (plus $6.95 for U.S. shipping and handling)
For immediate information or questions, I can be reached at:
949-642-6738 or 949-295-6437

Thank you in advance for your support.....
Mahalo,
Grandmaster Gary Forbach

Aloha,

These new DVD’s/tapes are NOT the Panther tapes.  These were done later and you get to hear Sijo give remarks during some of the techniques.  It is a very good set of tapes that show you the basic moves of Kajukenbo broken down by belt rank as used by GM Forbach and myself.

You will enjoy the set.  IMHO.

W.K.O. TAPE/DVD CONTENT

Tape AA – “Introduction to KAJUKENBO” (Basic Histories, Traditions, Etiquette and Rules) 30 mins.  *This tape contains a basic explanation of the items listed above as it pertains to the “ORIGINAL METHOD” of KAJUKENBO and is a great source of information for the beginning student as well as anyone interested in our roots.  The tape also includes basic “Rules and Regulations” handed down from the late Great Grandmaster Aleju Reyes and Sijo Emperado.

Tape AB – “ADULT BASICS” 60 mins. *This tape contains the basic knowledge needed to advance ones training in the “ORIGINAL METHOD” of KAJUKENBO which includes:  Stances, Blocks, Strikes, Kicks, Judo Rolls and Falls, and related material.

Tape A1 – “Adult WHITE/PURPLE Belt Requirements” 40 mins. *This tape contains the basic knowledge needed to advance from White Belt to White/Purple Belt in the “ORIGINAL METHOD” of KAJUKENBO which includes:  Grab Arts 1-7, Punch Counters 1-5, Club Counters 1&2, Knife Counters 1&2 and Pinans or “Palama Sets” 14, 1, 2 & 3

Tape A2 – “Adult PURPLE Belt Requirements” 40 mins. *This tape contains the basic knowledge needed to advance from White/Purple Belt to Purple Belt in the “ORIGINAL METHOD” of KAJUKENBO which includes:  Grab Arts 8-15, Punch Counters 6-9, Club Counters 3&4, Knife Counters 3&4 and Pinans or “Palama Sets” 4, 5, 6 & 7

Tape A3 – “Adult  BLUE Belt Requirements” 25 mins. *This tape contains the basic knowledge needed to advance from Purple Belt to Blue Belt in the “ORIGINAL METHOD” of KAJUKENBO which includes:  Grab Arts “see previous tapes”, Punch Counters 10-12, Club Counters 5-7, Knife Counters 5-7, Two Man Attack 1&2 and Pinans or “Palama Sets” 8, 9, 10 & 11

Tape A4 – “Adult  GREEN Belt Requirements” 40 mins. *This tape contains the basic knowledge needed to advance from Blue Belt to Green Belt in the “ORIGINAL METHOD” of KAJUKENBO which includes:  Grab Arts “see previous tapes”, Punch Counters 13-21, Club Counter 8, Knife Counter 8, Two Man Attack 3, 4, 5, 6& 7, Three Man Attack 1,  Advanced Alphabets A, B & C, and Pinans or “Palama Sets” 12& 13

Tape A5 – “Adult  BROWN Belt Requirements” 42 mins. *This tape contains the basic knowledge needed to advance from Green Belt to Brown Belt in the “ORIGINAL METHOD” of KAJUKENBO which includes:  Grab Arts “see previous tapes”, Punch Counters “see previous tapes”, Club Counters 9, 10 & 11, Knife Counters 9, 10 & 11, Two Man Attack 8, Three Man Attack “see previous tapes”,  Advanced Alphabets D & E, and Pinans or “Palama Sets” “see previous tapes”.
*** SPECIAL BONUS – At the end of this tape Sigung Joe Tarango presents an introduction to “Full Contact”.  This basic info is for those students or individuals ready or interested in taking their training up to another level within KAJUKENBO.

Tape A6 – “Adult  Student BLACK Belt Requirements” 35 mins. *This tape contains the basic knowledge needed to advance from Brown Belt to “Student” Black Belt in the “ORIGINAL METHOD” of KAJUKENBO which includes:  Grab Arts “see previous tapes”, Punch Counters “see previous tapes”, Club Counters 12-13, Knife Counters 12-15, Two Man Attack “see previous tapes”, Three Man Attack “see previous tapes”,  Advanced Alphabets F & G,  and Pinans or “Palama Sets” “see previous tapes”
*** SPECIAL BONUS – At the end of this tape Sigung Allen Abad presents an introduction to “Ground Repetition”.  This footage is excellent for those interested in the basics of “following up” on the ground with combination and repetition techniques by one of KAJUKENBO’s finest practitioners.

* Please note that belt requirement techniques and knowledge shown on the tapes “A-2 through A-6” DO NOT contain the techniques from the tape before it.  In other words, “Grab Arts 1-7” shown on Tape A-1 are not repeated on Tape A-2.  Tape A-2 will contain “Grab Arts 8-15” and so on.  Also, I must make it clear that the techniques (Grab Arts, etc.) shown on Tape A-2/Purple Belt for example, are performed along with the requirements from the previous belt test  (Purple Belt requires 1-15 Grab Arts not 8-15) when testing for the next belt level.

**  Keep and eye out for the "Sample WKO Video Clips" we're trying to post here on the CAFE.

*For more information about the status of the tapes, go to the "NEWS" section, under WKO Tapes

I wanted to know if you had these produced on DVD yet?
I do not have a VHS player so if you could let me know if you have them or when they are done I would most appreciate it.
Also if you have not found someone to put them on DVD let me know I may know someone who does that. PM me if you have a quote from whoever was going to produce the DVDs.
Thanks!

I have a full set, they are really great, not only for training but for understanding the history of Kajukenbo (by comparing what we do now vs. what the baseline was).

Almost monthly I get inquiries as to whether video testing and ranking are availiable to purchasers of these DVD's.  In short the answer is, absolutely not.
I want to make sure everyone understands the purposes of these DVD's.  Like the Panther Productions series in 1986, this newer series is meant to be a training supplement to a student's live training under a qualified instructor.  They also serve as Sijo's historical record of his "Original Method" of Kajukenbo.

No matter what anyone may claim, Grandmaster Gary Forbach (or any of his black belts) have never issued any rank or authorization to teach, based on a persons study of these videos/dvd's.  So if you encounter anyone who claims to be qualified to teach the "Original Method" of Kajukenbo based on their studies from these videos/dvds, you should look very closely at their black belt/instructor credentials.

I have already purchased the complete set and think they are great. They answered some questions that I could not get answered elsewhere.

However, I have a problem, small as it or we may be.

I loaned my AA and AB discs to my "little brother" with specific instructions that I wanted them back. Needless to say, I have not been able to get them back.

Is there a way to replace them? I would like to have the complete set.
