Damon Gilbert takes 2 major tournments!
« on: August 01, 2006, 11:35:00 AM »
My professor Tommy Gilbert called this morning saying his son Damon took Grand at the Battle of Altanta. This is his second major win on July 22, in Miami, he took Grand at the U.S. Open, what is extraordinary is that less than two years ago, Damon had a very serious back injury and surgery. I can't tell you how proud I am. In an ESPN interview he mentions Kajukenbo. The interview will be telivised on ESPN soon.

Very proud GM SOTELO

p.s.
Hope to see my BLTW family on August 12th at the Dragon's Den, ohana seminar :)

Congrats Sifu Damon!!

If anyone gets an invite/opportunity to train w/BITW - GO!! It's a cool experience and the instructors and students definetly demonstrate the true meaning of family.

BITW training is ONLY for those that are truly serious about their sparring game! ;D

GREAT JOB "D"

Big Damon...definitely a congrats goes out.  He has been on the circuit for a while and has been steady.  We had a few run-ins at tournaments but never fought each other...good seeing other Kaju folks out on the national circuit competing.  I am just now getting back into the national circuit.  Have an NBL tourney this weekend in Vegas.  But also, Bryan Young, who is one of our black belts, fights on the national circuit and does very well also!

Hello to all of my Kajukenbo family. I am surprised that my dad let the cat out of the bag. But i am just thankful that i can get out there from time to time and do what i love to do. I am proud of our strong Kaju fighting heritage. Their are many that came before me, and i have anything to do w/ it their will be many that come after me. Kaju is strong and being represented all over the world in competition by the next generation of Kaju greats. It has been a long time since Kaju has won the overall grand at the Battle of Atlanta and the ESPN TELEVISED US OPEN.

P.S. THANKS FOR ALL OF THE KIND WORDS. AND A SPECIAL THANKS GOES TO TONY SATCH WILLIAMS, WOODY SIMS, AND RITCHIE BARFIELD(JUST TO NAME A FEW) FOR SETTING THE BAR BACK IN THE 1980'S AND 1990'S

LONG LIVE THE FIGHTING SPIRIT OF KAJUKENBO!!!

You know you werent going to be able to keep that a secret!  I was watching the videos on SportKarateVideo.com all day yesterday.  Way to move out there!  Its great to see Kaju being represented on a National and International level in Sport Karate as well.  I hope to help continue that growth and can't wait for some of these youngsters we have out here to put themselves on the map as well.

Gotta love KAJU! ;D
