I joined the IKA Oakland in 1993, got a patch and a card and was only a member of that organization a year. They never sent me anything about renewal, so I never did. I thought I read something about that organization not being around anymore. Is the IKA still functioning? Or did it merge into the KSDI? I am planning on joining the KSDI soon and I wonder if the membership number I had in the IKA still exists in an inactive status and/or is it the same membership number as the KSDI?

Ladasama, you will have to check with Grandmaster Dechi on this matter. Her address is somewhere on the cafe.

Yes. KSDI #5069, under the Original Emperado Kenpo Karate Method. Even though I am actually ranked in a Family Related Method (Hawaiian Kenpo), my membership was gladly accepted. That is, after verification was made that the method I was trained in was an off-shoot of the Emperado Family Tree. I was very impressed by the thoroughness of verification. Wouldn't want it any other way!

Since joining KSDI, I have been in contact with a lot of really great, like-minded Martial Artists. I feel fortunate to be able to associate with such quality human beings.

It is time to renew our KSDI membership.  I am wondering what address to send our dues to.  San Diego?  Hawaii?  I would appreciate someone letting me know the best current complete mailing address to use.

Thank you for posting the info Grand Master, does membership fees cover the Black Belt Society Patch? I did not see an order option for that patch.

As far as I know, the KSDI membership fees do not include any patches.  The fees include a membership card, though.

Here is the order form on GM Herrera's website for patches.

Hey, I didn't get any of those :'(

I got the warm fuzzies knowning that I was supporting Sijo financially when I became a KSDI member - the patches, discounts, fliers, newsletters ... not important.
