Yes, he's aged well, if at all.  His youth stems from that Okinawan karate that he trained at an early age.

What's all this hating on the traditional striking arts.  The Okinawans are some stout, little, hairy armed dudes.  Blame the people all across this country who watered it down and turned it into dojo ballet.  Don't let that guy that got a lucky break your training with brain wash ya.  If it wasn't for the old style striking arts, we would not be here today, atleast not on this forum.

I'm hating on the old legends how Karate training imbues one with powers much like the fountain of youth. I also hate on people who claim to strike with chi attacks, walk on water, burn holes through rock with their stare, and other such assorted Japanese cartoon fantasy fun ;)

Ralph Macchio is all the proof we need.

There's an easier explanation for the fountain of youth through exercise.  It's very well known that physical activity has many positive effects on the body, including improved circulation.   Another explanation is what I call the "Yoga Phenomenon".  Yoga doesn't make you a 5'4" slender woman.  It's just that those women care for themselves with physical exercise coupled with the simple fact that their build makes them very efficient at that sort of exericse.

So how much waxing off do you have to do to stay young?

James,

I admire your wittiness and knowledge of the MMA happenings of today, but collectively most people on here have more time sitting on the toilet than you have in martial arts.

We all know the effectivesness of the ground game.  Professor Chow added it in the 40's "Kenpo Jujitsu" as well as Sijo in 47.  Alot of us started with a strong striking base and added ground work.  Granted there's alot of rubbish out there, but I'm not alright with someone bashing our traditional roots.  Feel me Playa.  Hmm Grandmasta trash feels kinda powerful.

What? Where did I say anything about that? I was remarking about the idea of Karate training stopping Ralph Macchio from aging. Did I miss something?

Was that statement in regards to increasing the effective youthfulness of the body with exercise?  If so, then I do not agree with.  I firmly believe that overall longetivity and mobillity are increased by exercise and believe that regular exercise, be it karate or not, is essentially a fountain of youth.  There are just too many numbers to support that, including the ambiguous studies of "will" on health, aka the placebo effect.

Well now we are talking about healthy lifestyles and regular exercise keeping you young feeling and looking; as opposed to mystical magic youth that comes from Karate practice. Why did you have to ruin my fun with science Gints? :(
