Very cool, and thanks to the Silat teacher in the demo.  I used to practice these Djurus, but I always thought they were Silat Serak -  Bapak lineage instead of the Kun Tao side.  They are quite different from what I was taught, but some of the basics repeated in these jurus are easy to recognize.

As for video, I really wish that people wouldn't add the nutsy music to the level that the original body sounds are lost.  I know its also boring to watch someone do repetivie movements in the air, but if you're a student of that art, it's gold to have a teacher perform on video.

As for video visuals,  get closer with the camera, don't wear shades and wear something that will distinguish you from the bacground.

Thats me in the video ....after couple beers Hahaha so a slooppy performance here

the jurus is a versions .....but almost  the real one
yeah the first parts is almost the same of the serak jurus 1 ,3 and 4 ....but this jurus is a  in fact a blending of 11 jurus fromthe kedang style  with langhas .....like the serak but last part have more kuntao in it.... thats from Uncle Bill De Thouars  of the famous serak family of De Thouars.....

Serak have 18 jurus ....buktinegara have 8 jurus......

Thanks for the video.  I have a lot of respect for anyone that takes the time to perform in front of a camera and then distribute the video.  An excellent contribution would be all of the jurus in your style one after the other.

I just studied silat for a little while, but I enjoyed doing the 18 serak jurus daily for a number of years at one job that had a stairwell with little traffic.  For compactness, I did them on triangle with the basic sweeps or langkha tiga.  I have a video in MPEG form of me as a beginner doing them in my garage, so I'll post it sometime.  Since I practiced for many years isolated from corrective forces of Silat teachers, I think my techniques and timing drifted.

 Gints

From who do you learned the serak jurus?

Yes ....The jurus could be done in the Tiga(triangle pattern) .....the langhas tiga teach the Sapu(front leg sweep ) and Beset(backward leg sweep) at the beginning

Hi Steve,

I learned the jurus primarily from Vince Uttley, senior student of Dr. Andre Knustgraichen.  I like the design of those jurus as well as the separation of upper and lower body, as in they can be practiced on a triangle, straight line, etc, and various lower body movements can be injected between each juru.  Before then, I never really thought about the design of kata.
Very cool.

 Gints

You learned the Pak Victr serak.... So much variations in the serak jurus from Pendakar Paul and his buktinegara , pak Vik and others ......Yep jurus are upper body motions ...the langhas the footwork...

Do You learned some of theSambuts ????

Kuntao silat from Uncle Bill is more kuntao .....with some silat mostly the Tjimande  and some serak ...
but the method teach the jurus like forms .... i Mean incorporated the  jurus in the forms ....the core of Un cle Bill  methodi is pa kua .....almost the same of the traditionnal pakua of chinese ....but more fighting ...I mean with the indonesian influenced and  without the wushu influenced....fir sure its not the pa kua  you see today....

I think I learned one, but since I haven't maintained it, that knowledge is gone.  It's belittling how you think you can remember a form until you have to pull it out of your head.

Nice stuff Steve.  I learned a little Penchak style Silat while in Malaysia.  Just some triangle work, sweeps and some good down and dirty knife stuff, no Jurus.  Most of my free time was trying to get some Bilot in Johor Baru, not trying to learn silat.  I think the only culture I got in that nasty little country was on the end of my schwanz.  Good times.

When we gonna see some of your Kaju stuff?
