This show was a big dissapioiintment! Yes, the historical perspective was interesting, and it was great seeing some of the areas where the Thai boxers train.

On the other hand, I feel the show should be more honest about the actual "fight". This was an exhibition match, pure and simple. A champion Thai fighter would decimatied this guy! Even to the untrained eye, you could see the Thai fighter was taking it real easy on his opponent.  More insulting was his buddy on the sidelines saying " He's not coming in with anything hard.." or words to that effect.  These fighters train hard under very difficult circumstances and to think that these guys would waltz in and fight a Lumpinee Champion is absurd. Can you imagine if they stepped into the ring with a American boxing champion?

Jason Chambers should know better but it seems respect for other systems (and each other) is a quality severly lacking in the MMA community at large.

The history was good, but I agree he fight was not for real unless that Thai fighter had been drugged first....

yup as with most the history was thebest part followed by maybe the mechanics of the strike or shoudl i say there wireframed dummy breakdown of the strike. the fight was and most likey be the worst part of the show.. you could also just look at it as a demo to the art as well..

I just watched the Muay Thai "Human Weapon" episode.  The training shots were great for a general purpose martial arts show.  I liked the story line of collecting some moves from the various Muay Thai schools and the legendary stories.  The instructional 3D human figures were outstanding.  But, yeah, I agree that the fight wasn't very real.  It had a strong flavor of international relations, but overall, the schools were about hospitality rather than "beat up the foreigner".  In the matches at the training camp, it was clear that the Thai fighters were really trying not to injure their guests.  After all, the show dies if the lead actors are unable to make it to the final fight.

Ok.  Gotta find the Escrima show ...
