My DVR messed up on the HDTV recording.  If this episode is ever shown again, please alert me so I can grab a high definition recording.

I have it on my cable box (Unless the wife deleted it). is there a way to extract it from a comcast cable box? If so then i would file share it with ares from source forge or put it up on my webspace.

Do you have the HDTV cable recording on the box from the High Definition channel?  I posted the standard definition episode a few links back.

To answer your question, aside from connecting cables to the Comcast Box (Composite, S-video or Component), you can use the Firewire output port to record unprotected channels.  I think Discovery Channel is not protected, but National Geographic is.   If you plan to do this, I can post what I use.

For Satellite boxes, you use PVRExplorer, though you have to open the receiver and connect the disk drive to your computer.   In my experience, PVRExplorer is unable to extract high definition programs.

Prof. Bono, which model of the DireectTV do you have?  I have never been able to directly extract HD content, so I bought a Black Magic Intensity card which will capture from the component outputs.  I'll let you know when I get that working.

Here is PVRExplorer :

This is what I do for my DISH receiver.  Yes, I have both a Comcast DVR and a DISH Network.  This is coming from a guy that didn't have *any* TV service for the preceding ten years.
