On March 2, (Sunday) a group of us visited Hanshi Sid Campbell at the Veteran's Hospital in Martinez, Ca. where he is recovering from his battle with cancer. Sigung Mark Gerry coordinated the event. If you know Hanshi, then you know he watched every minute of the Fight Quest TV shows. So, just to make the visit a bit more special for Hanshi, Mark brought Doug Anderson, one of the fighters from the show. Hanshi was so happy to see everyone and he really enjoyed Doug's visit.

Doug is an Iraq veteran. While at the hospital he took the time to meet with all of the other veterans in the hospital. There were several very touching moments. Our veterans deserve all the love and support we can show them and Doug's concern and support was heartfelt and genuine.

Like all of you, I was really fired up over the Kajukenbo Fight Quest TV Show, but sharing that time with Hanshi, Mark, Doug, my students, other martial arts family members, and some of our veterans was priceless.

Prof. Powell,

This was an outstanding note!!

That you all visited with our veterans is important to all of us.  These folks served our country and your visit must have been uplifting all involved.

Keep up the good work.

These kind of momnets are special for veterans in a hospital setting who often feel disconnected and far-removed from the rest of the world. I am sure that ya'll made their hearts smile.

I meet Hanshi Sid Campbell when I visited Brother Mark about 10 years ago. He has many kind words and many stories to share. As a Viet Nam/Thailand veteran it is with great pleasure that people like Prof Mitch and his people give the Kaju Ohana spirit and Aloha.
