Kaja kenpo?
« on: August 01, 2008, 04:38:53 AM »
Has anyone heard of grandmaster tigi mataalii? He has some videos on you tube that say he trained under G.M. Chow and founded Kaja Kenpo?

I saw him back in the early 70's claiming to be Kajukenbo. He went on tour with one of those martial arts extravaganzas that toured North America.

I never heard his name associated with GGM Chow, but what does that mean?

Red Flags

1. He's being publicized by a ninja.

2. Student of William Chow
(According to Sam Kuoha, Prof. Chow said he never met the man)

3. Uses title Dr.  Claimed to be M.D. at one time, then psychologist at U.C.L.A. med center.
(According to some of his students from the 70's when he starting calling himself "Dr", he was a tour bus driver.)

4. World record holder, and undefeated Black Belt World Champion.
(Where are the records of this?)

5. Silver medalist in 1968 Mexico Olympics.
(False)

6.  Gold medalist in Judo and Karate at the 1976 Montreal Olympics.
(False for judo.  And there is no karate in the Olympics)

7.  Only karate instructor in the world who can break 9000 pounds of ice.
(Bill Ryusaki and Dan Guzman told me about the time Tigi was booed off the stage when his ice stack broke while he was giving his intro speech.  It seems that time he precut his blocks too deep)

8.  William Chow passed on his lineage to Tigi Mataalii.
(I'm sure Sam Kuoha and Bill Chun Jr. would be surprised to hear this.)

I'd be worried about anyone that is willing to be photographed with a stream of water pouring on his head.

Did some searching and found some interesting facts.

1. Mexico was not included in the Olympic program in 1968.

2. The Gold medalist for Judo in the 1976 Montreal games was Hector Rodriquez Torres of Cuba.

On a side note I left a comment on Youtube about this guy and ChosonNinja wrote me and ask me to prove my claims. I quess he doesn't know that I belong to a system that is full of martial arts historians. Sucks to be him. ;D

I really need to have my coffee before typing or reading.

Judo was not a part of the Olympic program during the 1968 Mexico games,

Here's an update of the Kaja Kenpo saga. It seems that Greg Park (aka ChosonNinja) has removed the first video that Prof. Bishop posted. I quess he realized that everything that was told to him was a lie. Or could it be that when I told him that I would ask one of my seniors in Kajukenbo to ask Sijo about his "Grandmaster" he knew the gig was up.

I would like to see Prof. Bishop given a doctorate in Kajukenbo history,
I think Dr. Professor Bishop has a nice ring to it.
There are many in this group who could write a thesis from memory on the history of this art.

I'd be worried about anyone that is willing to be photographed with a stream of water pouring on his head.

The "Cat" Yamaguchi did get photographed on the cover of Black Belt magazine, many years ago, with water pouring over his head.

Greg Park, claims everyone who says Tigi Mataalii didn't win gold medals and didn't break 9000 pounds of ice is a liar.  he's made a new video about "dr" mataalii and i thought you people might like to see it.

i'm making a response video right now but anyone who has proof of these lies should come forward to help stop them

I'd be worried about someone that allows themselves to be videotaped while sitting in a tide pool.
