being on your own
« on: March 04, 2009, 07:14:01 PM »
I teach martial arts in upstate NY. My rank is black sash (instructor level: Sifu) in Shaolin Kung Fu (Forms: Praying Mantis, Tiger Claw, Dragon style 龙形拳,and a 1st degree Black belt in Shaolin Kempo Karate (which actually stems from Kajukenbo lineage:Gascon,Pesare,Cerio,Villari). I have been active in these art since 1984 until now. I only got up to 1st dan in Shaolin Kempo Karate because of financial reasons. Therefore I teach Kung Fu with Kempo self defense. My wish is to join a Kempo organization but I don't know who to go to...I teach for the love of the art, not for heavy financial gain, therefore some Kempo organizations would not want admit me. What should I do, I feel somewhat isolated. My former SKK instructor is unreachable because his dojo fell through and my Kung Fu teacher is very far from where I live and he is independent (not affiliated with any organization.
