Letter of Thanks From The Abad Family

April 11, 2009

Dear Self-Defense and Martial Arts Colleagues, Families and Friends,

This is an ‘Official Letter’ approved by and written on behalf of the Abad Family and the Abad’s Martial Arts International Kajukenbo Association, AMAI-KA.

This has been a very emotional week for the martial arts community. Our condolences goes out to Sijo Emperado and his family, immediate and extended, may he rest in peace. Sijo’s memory will forever be in our hearts and minds.

We would also like to thank each and every one of you who gave your condolences, support and expressed your fond memories on the passing of a great human being, Shi-Zu Allen A. Abad.   It gives us great joy, pride, honor and respect for all to know that so many of you were touched in some way by a person who’s overall goal was not the perfection of skill in ones self, but rather the perfection of character within.  As so many of you have expressed through this internet site, e-mails, letters, cards, phone calls and face to face conversations, that Shi-Zu Abad had attained that goal not only within himself but with friends, people he has met and if not all, most of his students.  His life long experience and knowledge in Self-Defense Martial Arts will be a tradition that will be carried on and shared to all through his beloved family and his AMAI-KA members.

Information for Shi-Zu Abad’s memorial services as follows;

•   Phoenix, AZ. May 16th, Shi-Zu Abad’s wishes were to have his immediate family hold services approximately 1 month after his  passing.

•   A second memorial service for the spreading of his ashes will be held in Hawai’i, this information will be announced at a later date.

*Place and time for both services will be forthcoming.

If there are any questions please direct them to Sifu Dolly # 480-277-5903 or Sigung Girlie # 520-4061851.  Once again on behalf of the Abad family and AMAI-KA, Mahalo Nui Loa for everything!

Sincerely yours truly,

Sifu Mark Bourrie

Wanted to post a note related to GM/Shi-Zu Abad's service today. One of the best services I have attended, extremely touching. Very nice tribute to an incredible man!! What a man, what a life and what a family. The Abad daughters were very strong to keep everything together and their Hula's were heart felt and touching for all that witnessed them. The videos with music and old photos were a pleasure to watch. Very nice speechs by people close to GM Shi-Zu Abad.

The whole service was a class act just Gm Abad. We will all miss him, but we know he lives on in all of us and his spirit is with us all. We all have our own stories of how he touched our lives, he inspired almost everyone he came in contact with. He has given his daughters the strength to face lives challenges head on, our prayers are with them and their familes.

Gm/Shi-Zu Abda, we will miss you.........thanks for your smiles, stories, the laughs and your encouragement, you helped us all to be better human beings. "Every man dies.......but not every man truly lives...." he lived his life with honor, passion and respect. He is in a better place now, with no pain and watching over all of us.

"Dream as if you will live forever, Live as if you will die today"......

Let us all tell the ones we love how much we care about them, take the time to play with your kids, these are the things that are truly important.

Aloha Everyone,
A beautiful ceramony!  Thank you for all of you that attended.  Anyone that knows me or Grandmaster Allen, knows how muh I loved and love him, and his family.  The family did a great job in honoring GM Allen.  Also thank you to Barbara for her love for GM Allen and helping him in this last few months and years of his life.  I was suprised and pleased to see all of those that came.  Too many to name.  You know who you are and your love for GM Allen.
Next week we go to Maui for Sijo.  I hope all of you "Kajukenbo" people will be there to show your support for Sijo and what he has done for all of us.
Love and Respect to the entire Abad family...
With Love forever,

Girlie, Angie, Alice, Amy, Dolly and April,

The ceremony was beautiful. The girls did a awesome job showing everyone how much they love and respect their dad. We will all truly miss him alot!  These girls took care of Allen even when they had to work and take care of their own families, he was never an after thought he was always right in the middle of their lives. He loved his martial arts and so do they. He loved the hula and so do they....
Thank you for allowing me to be part of your lives.....I Love you all alot

Rhonda
