We want to welcome you to the Kajukenbo Cafe, and we're very glad you've chosen to join us.  We also look forward to your contributions to the forum.
But please take a minute to comply with the following membership requirement: If your member name is a "nick name", please put your true name, rank and school/affliation in the "signature" section of your profile, so it appears at the bottom of your posts.  If you are not a Kajukenbo practitioner, then just your name is  sufficient

Aloha Sensei Wayne,
Welcome to the neighborhood. I have a dojo in Georgetown about 40 miles south of you. Feel free to stop by anytime. I visit a good friend / training partner in Temple pretty regularly, so I look forward to meeting & training and welcoming you to Tejas. Give me a call.

well, I am not sure I am ...bendy enough for WHKD at my age..LOL

I was really looking for Original method if possible since I have a pretty strong Kenpo background as well. Sigung Escobedo gave me an email address for a guy that's just over an hour away, but I havnt heard back from him yet. One way or another though, I have spent the last few years reading about Kaju, the history, they people, and it has become a mission for me in a way. In fact, I have a small semi private school right now teaching TKD with the self defense modeled on Kenpo and I tell my students to look at Kaju, THAT is what the self defense should look like.Powerfull, fluid strikes to multiple targets till the bad guy drops.

WHKD does not require you to be 'bendy'.  You will find that it can be adapted to any physical ability/strength/inability.  The foundation of WHKD is Kajukenbo and you would find that, especially in the beginning, there are not all that many differences in the basics of Kajukenbo.  However, I do imagine I am too far away to make it any better for you.  If you are ever in the area, let me know though.
