« on: October 01, 2009, 01:43:07 PM »
I have been asked to make a very sad announcement.
Grandmaster H. Arthur Gitlin passed away this morning do to complications.
He was an accomplished martial artist and very close to many of us in Kajukenbo.
He was 64 years old.
May you rest in peace my brother.

I trained with Art Gitlin for a couple of years straight, there was no one better at  explaining the science of knife fighting and concepts of the karambit but I will miss him most for what he has meant to my family. He was more than a teacher he was a very close friend and he will be sorely missed by all in my household. My prayers go out to his wife Sigung Susan Thomas-Gitlin.

I have known Professor Gitlin for many, many years, having swapped old war stories, traded techniques, eaten in many different Chinese restaurants and shared a lot of laughs.  It's now with a great sadness in my heart, that I say goodbye to a wonderful man, great martial artist, loving husband, devastating knife-man and good friend. We will just have to drink diet coke without you for a while, but you will always remain in our hearts and thoughts.  All our best wishes from the Benicia Rd. Kajukenbo Black Belts and family. Until we see you again, stay with God.

We are here for you Sigung Susan.  There are no words to express how much the losses this year have impacted all of Kajukenbo.

Maybe something big is going down in Valhalla and the Lord needed to call on THE BEST Warriors.  Either way, Prof Gitlin will be greatly missed.  Im sure he's in good company.

Love and Respect,
Dean :'(
