Yok Choy or Yok Choi...
« on: November 23, 2009, 11:34:34 PM »
I was wondering if anyone makes or knows how to get a hold of a good Yok Choi.  I have heard of Dit da jow, which works in the same manner, but Great Grandmaster Gaylord talked about Yok Choi, which was used a long time ago in Hawaii for bruises, sore muscles, ligaments, tendons, etc., and is what he had used in the past.

I do see there are alot of things on the internet, but am a little cautious because I dont know how good or bad those things are, so I would rather hook up with someone who is reputable.

Thanks.

Tim,

Ahgung Ramos called it by almost the same words but I belive that was the pidgeon way of saying Dit Da Jow. I would go to our Kajukenbo brothers in the Tum Pai section. GM Jon Loren had very good formulas. The  contact should be Prof. Jay Burkey He's the moderator of the Tum Pai section and the leader of the group. Several of us have family Jow's we use. But to be able to get it whenever you want it or need it Prof. Burkey would be the way to go.

Hi Tim,

What Sigung David stated earlier was true. The actual way of saying it is Dit Da Jow  :D.

Hi Sigung Willis,

I had asked GGMGaylord if he knew where to get Dit Da Jow, and he was pretty adamant in calling it Yok Choi, the same stuff just different way of saying it, and am sure no one would say the Chief was wrong by calling it Yok Choi  ;)  .  He was working on getting me some from one of his other blackbelts but he had passed sooner than anyone thought.

Sigung Jesse Escobedo (spelling could be wrong) had emailed me a recipe of Jow, but the Chinese herbalist in Oakland only had about 50% of the herbs.  In the meantime I am doing what I can to help heal my arm and shoulder, which work doesnt give it enough rest since I have an industrial route in Hayward working for UPS, ALOT of heavy packages.

Hope to see you in January.

Hi Tim,

Best person to get a hold of that will have it or put you in the right direction to get it is GM Eric Lee, who is a doctorate in Chinese herbs. If you don't have his number let me know and I will share it or I could see that he gives you a call  ;). In regards to GGM Gaylord. Your right, one does not argue with him  ;).
