COMPLAINT about a POSTING in the CAFE?
« on: September 09, 2003, 12:02:00 PM »
Good Morining:

I was just curious where does one go to file a complaint about a posting?

Is there a procedure or do we email the moderator or Sihing?

Thanks in advance for your response.

Just so that everyone understands, address complaints directly to myself or Sigung John Bishop. I am ususally online 8-4 EST everyday. Pop us an email and we will address the issue as fast as we can.

Moderators can help get ahold of the two of us as well. Thankyou Prof Harper for staying on top of us! :)

What would be considered inappropriate on this forum?  Sure we can use our best judgement, but what I feel is appropriate may differ from everyone else.  It would be impossible to not offend all the time for we are all different as humans.  Are there any guidelines you want use to follow?  I vaguely remember something of this nature but dont' remember where it might be.

It has not been necessary up to this point to formulate a set of general rules for use. Common sense should be your guide but when you are posting keep these in mind:

  • Respect the views and opinions of others, even when you disagree
  • Words a powerful, re-read your comments before posting and imagine how someone else might take them
  • RULE: DO NOT USE OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE. Euphamisms should get your point accross just fine.
  • When posting information about someone else, make sure it's ok with them. Don't post if you don't have permission to do so.
  • Make sure your infomation is accurate. Don't post heresay.
Basically, be polite. This forum is supposed to foster an environment of healthy question and debate. It helps newer students to gain knowledge and the more experienced blackbelts to have an understanding of different methodologies.
When you have a problem direct your questions to the moderator of that forum. Send them an email. If your issue is not resolved, contact Sigung John Bishop, or myself (Rob Poelking).

Just for clarification-moderators remove words or a post in which they feel may offend another?...to keep the peace...I for one respect this responsibilty they took on and encourage them to do so regardless of rank on who typed what...
