If I only had a time machine....  :'(

I think it is safe to say this man mastered his craft.

Wow.  And that this was recorded properly on film before 1965 is amazing.

What was that attack at 5:55 ?

Your right bro.. He has mastered gravity. He knew just when to use his weight to be heavy or light just when he needed to do it.

Looked like Fred Astaire with an attitude.. And some serious skill..   ;)

That was K. Mifune, the last 10th degree promoted by Jigoro Kano. He was attributed with the development of many of the throws used in judo.

There are a few other, longer, videos available with him in it.

Quite the man.

Here is a link to a couple of videos of K. Mifune. Both are great historic videos if yo uhave time to sit through them. This guy was one of the greatest juodka ever. It is quite amazing how easilly he employs sumi otoshi.

This one is 30 min.

That has me laughing.  Ok.  What's your take on the rest of the defenses ?  While they were probably remnants of some sort of sword attacks, one of them looked like a defense against a judo chop.

Oh..my favorite phrase.

In the US,the top threats have been :
1950's : knuckle sandwich
1960's : Judo chop
1970's : Karate chop
1980's : Karate Kid crane kick
1990's : TKD multiple snap kick to head  (spin 360 degrees on single standing leg to cover all opponents)
2000's :   The decade isn't over yet.  What do we have to worry about ?  Perhaps we need a poll.
