clear "black eye" as fast as possible ?
« on: December 03, 2011, 08:49:44 PM »
I got a shiner during grappling rounds.  A big fat shiner that swelled up enough to reduce the field of view, of course, just before the corporate Holiday party.  I'd like to clear it out as fast as possible.  During the 1st 48 hours, I applied ice compresses.  Now, it's dark purple.  Some of my basketball-playing friends swear by an herbal remedy called Arnica for black eyes.  In the past, I just rubbed the area with soap and water to clear out the bruising.  Is there are faster way?

Jow is what we use but also and per my acupuncturist don't heat it in the microwave.  Put about an inch or so of water in a sauce pan and heat on just less than medium heat then put the Jow bottle in the pan and heat it that way.  Don't boil. There is already herbs in most Jow to piss off your pores so the Jow can really soak into your skin and when you heat it, the Jow works better.

Good luck Grandmaster,

Probably not something you would want on your eye but, I have had some very bad sprains. I was told to slice some onions and wrap them over the bruise. I did it and the bruises disapear withing a day or 2. The same person told me to slice a raw garlic and wrap it onto my foot to remove a seedwart. It worked. Took about a week but worked.

Jow should not be use near mucous membranes like the eyes for instance, or over the organs.  I am an acupuncturist who apprenticed with an 18th generation Master herbalist for 4 years and have been making Jow for more than 20 years. Arnica as a homeopathic or as a lineament is a good choice, another is the the chinese herbal capsules of Yunan Pai Yao.  My fisrt choice though would be a poultice or compress of Lycopus (also called bugleweed in English or, Ze Lan in Chinese).  It is both very safe and very effective.
