Kajukenbo 2012

    Wow hear it is coming right around the corner 2012 and here we are still fighting about who is who in Kajukenbo and it still is the same there is only one Sijo and should never be another in Sijo's Kajukenbo, there are a lot of Grand Masters that are great teachers we see in seminars and there are lot of we only hear from and see on the internet no disrepect to those that can't make the seminars but Kajukenbo has alway been a show and go type of teaching no matter the age of the instructor even if we have to talk are way through the teaching and there are a lot of great school out there with good instructors no matter there rank infact we all started as a white belt at one time I hope.  Sijo gave all of us the power to take Kajukenbo to another level and that is why it such a great art but he didn't want us to fight each other about who the top dog is or the best instructor is or who is the new leader in Kajukenbo and you should know Kajukenbo is to big for that so we need to stop fighting on who is this level and who is not and to that point the closest to him would be his Sister SRGM DeChi Emperado the administer of Sijo's Kajukenbo and the only other person related to Sijo who is willing to step up is Clearance Emperado Luna head of KSDI of Hawaii.

   We Grand Masters are making a mess of setting  examples for the 6th 7th and 8th degrees which is the future of Kajukenbo through all the bull*#@t that we are doing when we should be setting good examples for, I am happy to see the guys in Spain representing Kajukenbo and the guys in Portugal representing Kajukenbo and no matter the method of teaching it still is Kajukenbo remember Sijo is Kenpo and that is what he like the striking part of Kajukenbo with the take downs and finishing ground work, I have watch GM Garcia and he is great at what he teaches and I have watch Bruno Rebelo and his group doing great work with the striking and take downs also. There should not be any of us telling another he is not Kajukenbo and if there are question just ask that person to post his time on the cafe it is not for you to say anything about each other if you were not there with him through there training peroid.

    I know there are great teacher here in the state I have seen thing with my own eyes I have watched GM Harper teach and it was great I have watched SRGM Al Dacasco,SRGM Carlos Bunda,SRGM JOE Halbuna,SMGR Gaylord,SRGM Alan Reyes who represent his father,SRGM Emil Bustista along with others no disrepect for names I did not mentions but you know who you are. I only hope in 2012 we can just recognize each other for who we are and what we are doing for Kajukenbo and I would love to see the younger guys come up with good role models I love to see the 8th degrees get together and start knowing each other now and there are some good one.

gm kingi I have to agree with you on a lot of what you say here, but here is my option and im going to put my neck on the chopping block but its just my option.

(1) about there's only one sijo well that's 100% true there's only one, but lets be real if sijo would have said im making grand master ? to sijo would we all follow that person and do what he says ? we all no the answer to that.  there's to many egos among us it would never happen. so I say lets drop the sijo thing.

(2) I like it in the old days when your teacher gave you your rank not when your student feels he wants to go up in rank and fills out and application to a board and then the board gives that person a rank. I feel we lose the strenge in that promotion. and that's why there are black belts with high ranking that do not deserve it.

(3) in the last few years we lost a lot of are top people in kajukenbo I fill lets not try to replace them lets just teach what they thought us to our students. lets not worrie who's a 8th or who's a 9th or who has the same rank as ? who really cares lets just focus on our students and making them great kajukenbo students.

(4) last thing Mr Garcia its good he's teaching kajukenbo in Spain, but he just needs to stop bad mouthing grand masters here. but on Mr Garcia that subject is closed.

(5) again this is just how I feel.............

We must each do what our heart tells us to do.
More than once while we were alone Sijo looked me directly in the eye and said hey, do me a favor.
I said sure Sijo what do you need.
He said no forget me when I’m gone.
I’m not sure what you mean by drop the whole Sijo thing.

gm harper when I said drop the sijo isure im mean drop the part of someone taking his place. there's only one sijo and thats the way it should be, just like there's only one ggm Gaylord there's only one ggm al Novak no one can take there place its just up to us to make them proud.............

Well said Pops (GM Kingi). I understood exactly what you were saying. Everybody needs to put thier ego to the side regardless of the actual situation and stop bad mouthing eachother. Get people within Kajukenbo who really wants to see it continue to grow in a positive light. Everybody has to work together and not worry about who receives all the credit. No matter who it is within Kajukenbo, if I am asked to help them out to further our system, I don't really care about the personal issues they may have with other people that have offended them. Unless I talked to that person directly or that person has disrepected me, Im not going to place any judgement on that individual. There may be more to the story than told so please dont assume based on whats being said here on this website.   

Anytime someone post something about getting along with eachother or forgiving someone for making bad choices, someone always has to put thier two cents in and express thier anger and individual frustrations. I understand this is why this website was developed (to express thier views) but I have read some stupid post here. With all due respects, stop finger fighting and talk to that person personally to settle things.

So with all due respects from white to black belt, lets all try to make 2012 a year where we all get our heads together and do seminars to soley benefit our Kajuenbo System. I know things cost money like sites, plane fare, hotel stays, etc.... but maybe its time to give back and do things that are free or at least cost effective. As I said during a meeting at the Calsbad seminar, I will be available for whatever. My Dad (Rick Kingi) has taught me everything I know about Kajukenbo and I promise I will deliver.

..and one more thing to add since I almost never post anything on this website...

My Dad (GM Kingi) had our 30th anniversary this year from when he opened up his Kajueknbo School in Inglewood, California. Through God's Grace, it has never closed its doors to anyone. The reason why its remained open for thirty years straight, is becuase we take care of eachother. Sure, some of us may have had personal issues with eachother but we always settled things on the floor. We always put the system first along with our students. It has never been about us as instructors. It has always been about teaching and furthering our students life within the school and outside of the school.

Now my younger brother (Robert Kingi) runs that school in Inglewood and has taken it to the next level. Of course my Dad still oversee's everything But its a unit effort with all of our black belts, parents and students that keep things going.

So with that said, lets start taking care of eachother like we take care of our own schools. If we all adopted that, there would be less issues here..
