If a person is looking for a kajukenbo school and they don't know anyone and there's not much in their area should they be able to inquire here to make sure if they are getting into a validated school or not?
I say yes.
If they do and we look into it or respond it does not mean we are on a witch-hunt.
It only means we are looking out for the integrity of our system and trying to be helpful to those who seek help.
To say don't worry about it is to be irresponsible to ourselves and to our system.
We are neither a judge nor the jury, simply an information center.
If someone calls my school in a respectful manner to inquire about my background I have no problem at all with it and will be happy to answer any questions they may have.
If they call in a disrespectful manner then I will just invite them to come and check me out in person.

Here is how I think we should respond.

First, evaluate the information available and make a quick assessment.
Look for legitimate information or for warning signs.
And then respond

Second,
If you can't confirm or deny then make a direct inquiry.
But do not turn a blind eye to those who would take advantage of our system.
That's how countries get invaded.
(This is just my opinion and I am not saying I am right.)

In my opinion if you are teaching openly and someone asks where your credentials come from and they do it politely, what's to get defensive about. I can  tell you everyone I've trained with or who has  taught me and give you phone numbers so you can contact them if you like.   Doesn't bother me a bit.

Thank you guys for checking this out.  I would hate to waste my time training under someone who has no legitimate Kaju credentials.

To the GM's, Professors, and Sigungs,
Whoever makes it to this years KSDI seminar, I have a suggestion.

Could it be possible we can elect some GM's to oversee this if it happens again to do some investigation.  As for the other organizations, KSDS, AKA, OKO, etc... maybe they can do the same and get with the elected KSDI members to do some collaboration with each other.

Just an idea.

I sent an email today as a 3rd request, if I do not hear anything back. Please judge the credibility of the individual out of your own heart, be cautious.

It sounds like we are handling this like adult Kajukenbo Black Belts.  We should all be able recite our linage, and back it up with paperwork and phone numbers.  And, we are fortunate to have GM Gelinas' Kajukenbo Family Tree for reference.  What happens after the "instructor" in question proves sketchy or evasive???  I don't know.  I'm trying to think what I would do if this happened in my area, if a fake Kajukenbo instructor opened shop near me.  I think I would go and train with him, more than once.  Maybe that way I could determine if the Kajukenbo that Sijo passed down to us was anywhere close to what this guy was teaching.  If not, I hope I would denounce him right there and then, on his mat, in his school, in front of all his students.....then let the chips fall where they may.
