You really can't stop her from teaching but if she decides that she's going to start promoting, none of those students would be recognized as Kajukenbo students.

Actually, Allan Abad & George Lim are in the Phoenix area, about an hour north of Tuscon.

BadSifu,

Why did she leave?  Was she not happy taking lessons from you any longer?

Did she earn her black belt?

So you and her didn't have any problems before this?

Is an instructor rank any black belt?  In some schools only 3rd dan and higher are actually instructors.

I had a similar situation last year but this guy was doing the fitness thing.  This year was advertised as self defense class but fortunatally this years instructor is a different guy from TKD.  If it was the same guy as last year I was going to make sure he was not using the kajukenbo name.  If he had what can I do?

That's odd that she is off teaching somewhere else and not even a black belt.

I can see someone needing to earn some extra cash.  But teaching when you are not qualified is simply a poor thing to do.

I can't imagine (well, maybe I can) that anyone would be taking lessons from her.

Good luck with all this!  Sometimes people have to venture off on their own before they realize they've given up a good thing.
