Mr. Fernando Guerrero Tala is in Chile, Southamerica, claiming a 7th degree and just promoted two people to 5th degree. He claimed training under Armando CaƱamero and David Rodriguez, supposedly direct students of Sijo. Anyone knows him or his lineage?

Might need to review the KSDI Family Tree or seek out GM Gelinas who does the research in regards to who is who in Kajukenbo and edits and prints out the KSDI Family Tree or maybe even Prof. Bishop who also researches who is who :)

There is a David Rodriguez under Florentino Paz who is descended from GM Gaylord's line.

No Armando CaƱamero, or Fernando Guerrero Tala anywhere.

I have recently seen "Kajukenbo" people in Greece, Italy and Turkey with no known affiliations.

Thanks a lot GM Gelinas.

With the information I collected this days, the whole history seems to go (sadly) in the usual way:  some instructor crossranked him to a lower rank and the guy promoted himself to 7th, now he is promoting some other people to upper ranks, and that people is trying to become members of legitimate Kajukenbo organizations.

there r several david rodriquez...one is under gm n. orteaga, title of sigung and found on the koa page.  one way to find out if this is your guy, contact gm nataniel.   he also has instructors in greece and perhaps turkey as well.

edit: instructor fernando guerrero is listed under a sifu robinson richardo jiminez martinez, 5th degree in copiapo, chile on the koa website.   hope this helps.  there are emails to contact if anyone is interested.

Well, that's weird, since it was Mr. Jimenez who told me that Guerrero is 7th and promoted him. Maybe KOA got the information upside down. But Sifu Tito Iglesias was the person who crossranked Guerrero to 5th and he told me that he doesn't gave him any other rank, that's the reason I told Mr. Jimenez that, under kajukenbo protocol, his rank was no valid since a 5th degree cannot promote to 5th degree... maybe in KOA they think different about it or just didnt check the information properly. I suppose i have to contact them now to see what happens.

yes sifu, weird indeed, but there are those who r 9th degree promoting others to 9th degree and they r being recognized by some (not all).  perhaps what gave that boost was the adoption of the Senior Grandmaster, thereby allowing the 9th promoting 9th thing to happen.  the cross ranking thing has also been done before and hasnt stopped.  so ultimately it will be each local school owner to accept or not accept these irregularities.

keep up the great work in chile, and dont let others bog u down with what they r doing... :)

Thanks, Tim. As usual, Im folowing your advice.

Sadly, the story goes on. Fernando Guerrero was told he can't promote himself to 7th and that his kajukenbo rank is no valid, but he said he can do whatever he wants cuz he  is making his own "expression" of kajukenbo. He was expeled from LTKKA for promoting himself to a higher rank too in american kenpo. Robinson Jimenez and his brother Eduardo Jimenez got a 5th degree in kajukenbo from Guerrero, despite about couple of months back they were just krav maga instructors (now they claim kali ranks also), and made their way through the KOA. They are trying to join any kajukenbo organizatio to get some legitimacy aura. I had a long conversation with them to explain their ranks were no valid and maybe they were scammed by Guerrero, but for what they answered me its clear that they are pretty aware about what they are doing and they plan to keep it doing in the future and they don't care about training or learning kajukenbo for real. So maybe they are going to knock someone's else org door soon.

Mostly, when someone wants to get promoted quickly, no good will come of it.

They are generally there only for the rank and then will move on to the next "challenge"

We are looking at short term goals and not long term goals. We will not survive until we establish some kind of vetting process for everyone, us included.

These guys can only live in the sludge. So if we don't make some, they will go somewhere else.
