My sincere condolences to the family and many students of Supreme Grandmaster Ciriaco “Cacoy” Cañete, the last surviving brother of the noted family of Escrimadores who originated in Cebu, PI. He passed away today at 8:08pm (Philippine Time) Cacoy Doce Pares (1919-2016)
I am quite aware that GGM Cacoy Canete was not a practitioner of Kajukenbo, but he and his family of 7 brothers started their Escrima Club in Cebu (PI) in 1932 and were instrumental in the spread of their art and they had an worldwide effect on the practice of their beloved art. That art has had a profound effect on the practice of Kajukenbo and all it's branches.
He will be missed.
