Sparring in Kajukenbo
« on: May 08, 2017, 10:14:45 AM »
I've sparred in Kajukenbo a few times. Continuous and point sparring. I greatly enjoyed both.

I currently train Shotokan Karate here in china. We only do traditional JKA style (not WKF) point sparring. I really like it.

Here are some of the differences I've noticed:
In Shotokan they are extremely strict about form and crisp technique. I found it much harder to score a point in Shotokan than Kajukenbo.

No groin kicks.

Shotokan people tend to fight much further away and blitz more.

You'll see Shotokan in JKA/WKF

Kajukenbo I've only seen in NBL and similar organizations.

I'm going to try to find some differences in sparring training and competitions on YouTube and post them.
