Joyce Davis-Clarke,
« on: June 08, 2021, 01:59:26 PM »
We regret to inform you of the death of Joyce Davis (Clarke). She passed away on June 3rd, 2021 at the home of her daughter Sydney in the Nashville, Tennessee area. She was a student of Aleju Reyes during the mid 1960's and fought in one of the first tournaments for women in 1968 in Fairfield, CA. She Black Belted under her then-husband Joe Davis, who was ALeju Reyes' 3rd Black Belt (1966).

As an instructor, her students won many trophies and one of her 16-year old color belts won 2nd place at the Internationals in Long Beach in the early 1970's.

The women fighters of 50 plus years ago such as Joyce, Malia Dacascos (Bernal), Nancy Miller (Wolf), Mali Morales and Yolanda Wollrabe all opened the door for today's UFC women fighters.

She will be greatly missed by many family members, friends and all the competitors from that era.
